Environment/ climate protection

To manufacture products and to use raw materials with our natural environment in mind obligates us to deal with them as sparingly as possible. SMT has therefore decided to produce some of the required electricity on our own. An 800m² large photovoltaic system provides peak power of up to 112 kW/h. This nearly corresponds to the energy consumption of our machinery.

Almost the entire roof of our building number 2 is covered with solar modules having a capacity of 185 watts each. The system comes from the German manufacturer KACO and ensures trouble-free operation over many years. If an error occurs, a monitoring unit informs us about this incident via email.

Resource conservation

A rainwater storage unit with the capacity of about 13000 liters ensures the garden water supply even in dry transitional phases without having to resort to the public water network. Excess rainwater seeps through a special pit and is thus returned to the groundwater and not introduced into the sewer as usual.

Also, the entire company grounds is provided with water-permeable paving stones to ensure wide seepage.
The metal and plastic chips resulting from the production are recycled, melted there and processed into new material.

When using oils and cooling lubricants, we pay particular attention to environmental compatibility.
Used waste is recycled by special companies.
